These are pressure-sensitive devices used to detect when a resident leaves a bed or chair, especially during times they are expected to remain there.
When a resident moves off the pad, a signal is sent to the nurse call system, creating an active incident. Caregivers are notified. When the resident returns to the pad, the device resets automatically.
Resetting occurs automatically when pressure is reapplied. This changes the incident status from “Active” to “Open.”
Use the Power button to turn off the sensor when needed. It won’t function while powered off, so only do this when necessary—and remember to turn it back on.
These pads can be configured to work only during specific times (e.g., bed pads at night, chair pads during the day). See “How to Add a Time Schedule” for more info.
