How to Use Door and Window Sensors
🚪 What are Door and Window Sensors?
These are contact sensors used to detect if a door or window has been opened, typically for residents at risk of wandering.
⚙️ How They Work
The sensors consist of two parts that touch when closed. When separated, a signal is sent to the nurse call system, creating an active incident and notifying caregivers.
🚨 Tamper Detection
If tampering is detected, the sensor stops working and an active incident is created to alert caregivers.
🔄 How to Reset
These sensors must be manually reset by a caregiver. Resetting changes the incident status from “Active” to “Open.” Reset methods may vary by community.
